We held our third London HL BaSE Catalyst workshop of the year, covering universal legal issues including corporate structuring, general legal considerations when entering partnerships, IP and brand protection, and more.
"The Catalyst workshop was exactly what we needed. Social ventures have to navigate even more complexity than you typically see, and Hogan Lovells were able to make our complex needs simple through the program."
Scott Smith, Finance Lead, EqualReach
We were joined by legal volunteers from Cadwalader and our valued clients, including Bank of America and Treasury Legal Advisers, GLD, who worked alongside Hogan Lovells volunteers to support 8 incredible social enterprises, including:
- Altruist is a passionate and expert provider of tailored mental health and wellbeing training, consultancy and coaching to businesses and schools.
- Tap Social Movement is a social enterprise that brews, bakes, and creates inclusive community hospitality venues to help turn lives around for prisoners and prison leavers through direct employment and advocacy.
- EqualReach is a digital project marketplace that connects organisations with vetted tech teams, making it simple for procurement teams to source teams and track impact. Outsourcing made easy—to get the job done and do good.
- Ukraine War Archive is a non-profit collaborative digital preservation platform that creates a unified register of materials related to the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
- Remarkitme is a UK re-commerce marketplace for white goods, connecting professional sellers of refurbished appliances with consumers.
- Women’s Work Lab CIC is on a mission to support unemployed mums in receipt of state benefits back into meaningful work.
- Trem has developed an app that detects and predicts tremors, makes diagnoses, and monitors conditions to help patients live better with the condition.
- Give Your Best is dedicated to tackling clothing poverty and fashion waste. Its platform allows individuals and brands to donate clothes online, so people living in clothing poverty can shop for free.
"Hogan Lovells brought exactly the expertise and thoughtfulness we needed at a critical moment in UWA's development. As we work to establish the UWA Foundation, the charitable entity that will underpin our long-term independence and sustainability, their guidance has been invaluable in ensuring we build an institution with the governance and legal foundations to match the scale of what we're trying to preserve."
