HL BaSE hosted a pro bono workshop as part of the HL BaSE Catalyst programme. The programme brings together in-house counsel and Hogan Lovells volunteers to advise social enterprises and charities. At the workshop we heard from some inspiring impact organisations before breaking out into individual advice sessions. The mix of legal volunteers, entrepreneurs and changemakers led to some great discussions and an opportunity to consider some exciting legal challenges from a range of perspectives.

"I found the lawyers in my breakout session to be exceptionally helpful. Not only did they provide valuable advice for the social enterprise aspect, but they also offered insights and information relevant to other areas of OWA's work."

We were delighted to work alongside volunteers from NovartisFord Motor CompanyMeta and JPMorgan Chase & Co. among others to advise these amazing organisations:

  • Treeconomy - Harnessing technology to quantify, track and deliver nature's power to restore the Earth
  • Ocean Women’s Association - a charity establishing a social enterprise to help place women currently on benefits with employment opportunities in the hospitality sector.  It also plans to develop its own farm which can supply restaurants on a sustainable basis.
  • Workshop 305 - a Community Interest Company dedicated to the arts and crafts and to working with adults with learning or physical disabilities.
  • Vision Catalyst Fund - a funder for eye health services in lower and middle-income countries. Its funding is deployed where it can be catalytic, taking calculated risks to meet the needs of the vision crisis in new ways.
  • Somerset Wildlife Trust - looks after some of Somerset's most iconic landscapes and wildlife by restoring habitats and green spaces on a landscape scale so that nature can be restored and thrive in the future.
  • The Rivers Trust is a movement of 65 member Trusts, organised around river catchments throughout the UK and Ireland. It believes in restoring natural processes in river catchments to reverse the decline in nature, slow the flow and purify polluted water.
