In France, HL BaSE partners with SINGA, an organisation creating a link between newcomers (people with migrant and refugee backgrounds) and locals (people with knowledge of the cultural codes in the welcoming community) with the aim to develop each person’s social and professional networks, leading to the creation of many opportunities (e.g. access to culture, employment, education or housing).

SINGA’s activities prove that social and economic innovation stems from migration and social connections.

"Sharabeek comes from a Syrian dialect of Arabic and means disorganized tangled strings, thoughts, or lines. Our project aims to transform chaos into creative and beautiful designs."

Samar Kazour, Founder of Sharabeek

The entrepreneurship programme at SINGA uses cultural diversity and new encounters as driving forces behind creation and innovation. At Lille, Lyon, Nantes, Paris and Strasbourg, it supports newcomers and locals together to grow and develop associations that are creative, impactful and thriving. HL BaSE has partnered with SINGA to provide pro bono legal advice to some of the start-ups supported by its incubators.

This month we were joined at our Paris office by 2 fantastic SINGA entrepreneurs:

  • Aïcha Souldi of Liya S who produces organic, argan oil based cosmetics from Morocco; and
  • Samar Kazour of Sharabeek, a project that specializes in handcrafted products such as clothes, accessories, and decoration items. Its products are 100% recyclable. The name Sharabeek comes from a Syrian dialect of Arabic and means disorganized tangled strings, thoughts, or lines. Its project aims to transform chaos into creative and beautiful designs.
It follows a zero-waste policy and create unique pieces while promoting sustainability. Sharabeek is proud to be part of the slow fashion movement, which emphasizes ethical and conscious fashion practices.

"We are delighted to work with SINGA and to support inclusion, entrepreneurship and innovation in the communities we work in."
