We collaborated with Mark Cheng, co-founder of Social Innovation Circle and impact investor who has coached hundreds of the world's leading social investors for over a decade, to host a webinar series aimed at social ventures.

Participants of our HL BaSE Training programme were invited to attend our three-part webinar series, where Mark discussed the common mistakes made when trying to raise funds and how to avoid them, tips on how to find the right investors for your business, and what investors are really thinking when they listen to a pitch.

6 Top Tips: How to Pitch to Impact Funders

1. Identifying the Problem

What problem are you solving? What is the size of the problem? How severe is the problem?

2. Your Unique Insight

What specific problem are you working on? What is unique about your solution?

3. Introduce your Solution

What is your solution to the problem?

4. The Impact of your Solution

How do you know you are effective? Emphasise what is unique about your solution. Define the problem that only you are solving.

5. What's Your Plan?

Describe your plan in detail. What do you need to spend on to achieve it? How much should you raise?

6. Ask

Be clear how much money you need. Clarify the terms. Describe what the money will be used for. What impact will it create?
