Will you roll this out globally?
Yes, we intend to roll this program out globally during 2015. In London, we will run the program twice a year in February and August as our new trainees join us. In other parts of the world, the course will be held at least once a year. It is likely that we will hold one program for the Americas; another for our practice in Asia and the Middle East and one or more courses for Continental Europe.
How many do you think you will enrol on the course over 2015?
This is something we are currently discussing. However, this is a course which is aimed at providing our lawyers at the very start of their careers with a proper understanding of business fundamentals. As a consequence, this course will be made available to our most junior lawyers.
How many countries do you hope will be able to partake in 2015?
The intention is that all junior lawyers will participate on a programme across our network. It is likely that we will hold one programme for the Americas; another for our practice in Asia and the Middle East and one or more courses for Continental Europe.
I joined the firm last year, will I be able to attend?
The program will deliver a basic understanding of business fundamentals to our junior lawyers as they start their careers. It is likely that the program will be made available to lawyers within the first 12 months or so of them starting their legal careers.
Will the program be made available to more senior lawyers?
The program will deliver a basic understanding of business fundamentals to our junior lawyers as they start their careers and the proposed course content may therefore not be suitable for more senior lawyers. However, we will consider how to expand the BaSE offering over time.
