For three decades, Andreas Eke has played a leading role in innovative reforestation projects in Latin America. Together with forester Iliana Armién, he has developed the Generation Forest concept, which combines environmental, economic and social impact in productive, biodiverse and sustainable mixed forests. He is co-founder of several companies and NGOs that form the Generation Forest Group - a group of allied organizations with a shared vision to create 1 million hectares of Generation Forest.

Andreas spoke at the at the firm's German ESG Gamechangers Summit in Munich,  representing innovative social business models to overcome the climate and ecological crisis.  At the summit more than 150 participants discussed the most pressing sustainability issues of the day with high-profile representatives from politics, business and academia. 

Andreas is considered a pioneer of sustainability in tropical forestry and is an expert in the conception of impact investments in reforestation projects that combine sustainable management and long-term ecological impact.

Andreas co-founded Futuro Forestal in 1995. Under his leadership, Futuro Forestal became one of the world's leading companies for sustainable reforestation and forestry in the tropics. He led the expansion of the company from 20 hectares under management to over 10,000 hectares, supported by a team of up to 2,500 employees.

Andreas is also passionate about projects that improve the lives of indigenous communities in Panama. A native of Hamburg, Germany, Andreas has lived in Latin America for over three decades and is fluent in German, English and Spanish. A tireless "changemaker" and Ashoka Fellow since 2018, he is a sought-after speaker at forest investment conferences, especially on risk-related topics. Andreas studied geography and Latin American studies at the University of Hamburg and global forestry at the Thünen Institute.
