Bees for Development - Jane Barnes

Bees for Development is a global charity dedicated to improving lives through bees. It champions sustainable beekeeping as a powerful way to reduce poverty, strengthen livelihoods, and protect biodiversity.

Our work promotes low-cost, locally adapted, nature-based beekeeping methods that work in harmony with the environment. Over the years, our work has expanded to include training, mentorship, market access, youth education, and village savings groups.

Founded in 1993, the charity works with partners in Ethiopia, Ghana, India, Malawi, Peru, Uganda, and Zimbabwe — and supports many other countries around the world.

Today, Bees for Development’s impact reaches across all 17 of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), demonstrating how beekeeping can create positive change for people and the planet alike.
