Yaraqat - Georges Mikhael

Yaraqat has a vision to democratise the creation of sustainable and resilient food production systems. The focus is initially in Lebanon, where 100% of animal feed is imported, and 39% of the territory is classified as having very high exposure to land degradation. Yaraqat wants to use innovative agritech to sustainably produce insects as protein and nutrients for animal feed, replacing imported soybean and fishmeal. The insects would consume organic waste, thus contributing to a circular economy, and produce frass (insect waste) which would be used as compost for improved soil management.
